Kennebec River Rail-Trail...

Biking in Maine

The trail runs along the Kennebec River from the state capitol at Augusta to Gardiner, Maine, following the route of the Kennebec and Portland Railroad. There's a gap in Hallowell where the trail runs along the road, but the town was fun to explore with shops and restaurants. The trail is part of the East Coast Greenway from Calais, Maine, to Key West, Florida. (Detailed map and photos below.)
