Maine Biking

Maine is a large state, with biking ranging from the Atlantic Coast to the mountains, and including paved and unpaved trails, mountain biking and road biking options. We visited several locations and plan to return for more exploration.

Acadia National Park

We didn't bike here (although biking is available), but too pretty not to include some pix of this stunning National Park - the oldest national park east of the Mississippi River and the only national park in Maine. The rocky Atlantic coastline is reknowned, and the Park Loop Road is a must-do when in the area. Biking is allowed on the loop road, but be aware it is winding, narrow and the road can be crowded with cars. Additionally, crushed stone carriage roads run through the park - these are bikeable, shared by pedestrians and horses.
