BikeTripper's "Trail Enjoyment" Checklist

Here are 9 factors we use to find the most enjoyable bike rides.

  1. Trail length - typically at least 5+ miles (10+ round-trip)
  2. Trail surface - paved is best, some hardpack OK
  3. Topography - flat or easy grades (like rail-trails)
  4. Tranquility - prefer little traffic noise
  5. Ride Safety - few road crossings, wide buffer, avoid on-road
  6. Scenery - greenery, parks, waterways, wildlife, etc.
  7. Points of interest - notable features along trail, or nearby
  8. Shade and shelter - from sun and wind
  9. Trailhead parking - secure location, amenities
